What Is Arc Welding?
Arc Welding and Types of Arc Welding are permanent metal joining process. It uses the filler metal called an electrode, the heat developed by electricity to join the two metals (or two parts). The Electrode is a long and thin cylindrical metal attached to welding holder; an arc will develop results in the permanent joining of the two metals. The whole process of welding will be work on electricity.

Types Of Arc Welding:
The types of arc welding depend upon the type of consumption of the electrode and type of welding process. They are.
Consumable Electrode types of arc welding:
The electrode is the filler metal which consists of flux material to prevent the welding from contamination. The consumable electrode will be melted (or consumed or used) during this welding process to join the metals, such consumption of electrode while welding is called the consumable electrode. Types of arc welding according to the consumable electrode are as follows:
- Shielded Metal
- Metal Inert Gas Welding
- Flux Cored Metal
- Submerged Welding

Non-Consumable Electrode types of arc welding:
The electrodes that never melt and develop flux material over the welding are called non-consumable types of welding. In the non-consumable electrode types of welding, the electrode will be responsible for the arc development. According to the Non-consumable Electrode, the types of welding are as follows:

Parts Of Arc Welding:
The parts of arc welding will be vary according to the types so, the basic parts are listed out below. They are
The Transformer is one of the main parts; it is the source of the whole welding working process. The transformer is the power developer and storage device in the arc weldings process.
The electrode is the long and thin cylindrical filler metal that is used to join the metals by adding the molten metal between the two metals.
The Electrode Holder is the device that acts as a mediator between transformer and electrode whereas; the electrode holder will convert the power into the arc.
The Cables are the connecting threads of the devices to transfer the power.
Working Principle Of Arc Welding:
The working principle of this type of welding is simple. The whole parts and process will be work with the help of the power (or electricity). The transformer is the power storage device that helps to supply the heat to the devices. The heat required to weld the parts will depend upon the type and thickness of the material. The amount of heat supply can be adjusted at the transformer itself. The minimum power required to weld will vary between 10 Volts to 50Volts and the maximum power will be around between 230 Volts to 430 Volts. This power input and consumption will be vary according to its type.

The heat is supplied to the electrode holder from the transformer whereas; the electrode is hold by the electrode holder the heat is transferred to the electrode. As soon as the electrode feed to the workpiece, the cycle will be closed (the earthing should be properly maintained to achieve the close loop) and an arc will be developed.
The arc will melt the electrode and fills the gap between the two metals to make a joint. The welding joint or metals are allowed to cool for better binding or welding.
Advantages Of Arc Welding:
The advantages of types of arc welding are as follows
